GED for Adults Wanting to Learn EnglishIf you live in the U.S., check your local community college. Many have ESL and GED programs already in place--and often need teachers. Some larger community colleges with a large Spanish speaking population offer GED classes in Spanish; the test can be taken in Spanish. If you want to proceed on your own, start by teaching basic ESL. Once the students have about a second or third grade reading level, introduce them to ABE textbooks. (Math and science are often easiest for foreign speakers since math uses universal symbols and science uses many latinate Words.) If they can get through the ABE level, they should be ready for GED texts.
