While doing it with the engine running isn't the best way, here's how.
Do one side at a time.
1) - Crank engine and give some time for it warm.
2) - If you suspect them to be too tight, then first loosen a rocker until you hear it clatter and tighten until the noise stops. Slowly tighten another 1/4-1/2 turn. Otherwise, just tighten noisy rocker until it quietens and tighten another 1/4-1/2 turn.
3) - Repeat for each and do other cylinder head.
4) - Clean up mess, because you made one.
