What makes skin go brown?

Usually staying in the sun will burn your skin, gradually turning into what you call a tan. If you do not have sunscreen on then the UVA rays from the sun reaches your skin and burns you. You can also go to tanning salons. But both of these can effect your skin and give you skin cancer.
