How is the King cobra designed to eat its prey?

Cobras use the venom in their fangs to disable and kill their prey, mainly small mammals like mice and rats. The snake can unhinge its jaws so it can swallow prey larger than its gape. Once swallowed, powerful proteolytic enzymes quickly breakdown the food for digestion. Many cobras are able to spit or spray venom. This behavior is usually defensive in nature, and not used to secure food.
