Babies are born without fully developed immune systems, which means they rely heavily on maternal antibodies received through the placenta and breast milk. This dependence continues until around six months of age when their own immune system begins to mature and produce antibodies more effectively. Additionally, their digestive system is also immature, making it challenging for them to process certain foods until they start solid foods around six months.
