There are four remaining species of bettong, and they are all found in Australia.

  • The Eastern Bettong is found in eastern Tasmania.
  • The Burrowing Bettong is extinct from the mainland, and found only on offshore islands of Western Australia.
  • The Brush-tailed Bettong, or Woylie, is found only in small, sparse colonies in South Australia and Western Australia.
  • The Northern Bettong is found only in a few small colonies on the coast of far northern Queensland.
