Examples of joints

The "U" style and the Constant Velocity "CV" joint. The "U" style uses a cross shaped center while the "CV" uses a knuckle and ring cage connected with balls. CV's are used where there is some transverse movement as well as bending action on the joint. In other applications than cars and trucks power may be transmitted through such things as bent springs connected to both input and output shafts, rubber blocks or sliding cam pieces.
