Why did the republican senate acquit bill Clinton?

Answer To my knowledge no sitting President ever went to jail because of something that was done in office. Not only that, but Mr. Clinton is a lawyer, his wife too, and you can believe that there was some fancy dancing Behind the Scenes of Politics that the public will never know, under some secrecy act. The fact that Mr. Clinton said in public that he didn't have any relations with Lwinisky in a way was true, he didn't date her, she gave him Bj's in the oval office, and as far as I know that doesn't constitute a relationship.
