If there was black dog is sleeping on a black road it is pitch black there is no moon and a car comes with its headlights off and it steers around the dog so How did the car know the dog was there?

Were there any lights, e.i. stars, faint light from nearby house, etc.? Because, dog and other animal eyes have a certain part in their eye that reflects even the slightest light. Then the driver could have seen those and veered. btw say im a bitch if u agree
