No country uses the French franc or the Spanish peseta.

  • France used the French franc until January 2002, when it was replaced by the Euro at the rate of €1 = 6.55957 francs.
  • Spain used the Spanish peseta until January 2002, when it was replaced by the Euro at the rate of €1 = 166.386 pesetas.

As of January 2013, 23 countries use the Euro (symbol '€) as their currency. 17 are EU members:

Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Malta, The Netherlands, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia and Spain.

A further 6 are not EU members:

Andorra, Kosovo, Monaco, Montenegro, San Marino, and the Vatican City.
