no, it's just a stupid meme propagated by idiots, the same naive fools that keep clicking on those "get your free $500 macy's card" or "track who visits you myspace" or any of that other crap that spreads like wildfire over the firewire. myspace is highly sucessful has millions of hits per day, and gets tons of sponsors which is why you always have annoying adds everywhere you click. in 2005 myspace was bought by Rupert Murdoch company (owns FOX) for $580 (just check wikipedia)
