How do you walk to Ulgoth's Beard if I haven't been there before in Baldur's Gate?

You first have to unlock the locations in between, namely, go to the bridge location, the one that leads into Baldur's Gate, then continue north to find an area of farmland, then north to a second one, and north once more to Ulgoth's Beard.
