Some might quibble as to the "phrasing" of the question on the life insurance application. Let me assure you that you do not want to split hairs on it. If the question is, "Have you ever had surgery?", then the answer is "yes", you have had surgery.

You are perfectly free to explain it to the company, and they may not even mind, and it may not even affect your rates.

However, if you don't admit to it, and they find out later when it comes time to paying out on the policy, your loved ones may not get paid. And insurance companies ALWAYS fnd out the truth. They keep digging till they do.

Don't pay on a policy that will be invalidated for a lie later. Be honest now.
