Why wont my 2007 Yamaha big bear 250 go into reverse?

That design can just be stubborn going into referse and I am told it is quite normal. Appearantly, a spline on the gear has to be lined up for it to drop into reverse perfectly, Most times shaking the machine foward and backwards with your body weight allows it to go in reverse. There is also an adjustment nut back from the shifter which can be turned to make the reverse easier. This is a fine adjustment however and by taking the nut back too far, you can then have the machine slipping out of forward gear. I have a machine with the same design and there are many times where it does not go into reverse right away but the shaking usually does the job.
