Fratricide results in unacceptable losses and increases the risk of mission failure; it almost always affects the unit's ability to survive and function. Units experiencing fratricide suffer these consequences:

1. Loss of confidence in the unit's leadership.

2. Increasing self-doubt among leaders.

3. Hesitancy in the employment of supporting combat systems.

4. Oversupervision of units.

5. Hesitancy in the conduct of night operations.

6.Loss of aggressiveness in maneuver (fire and movement).

7.Loss of initiative.

8.Disrupted operations.

9.General degradation of unit cohesiveness, morale, and combat power.
