Why is baby poop green?

If this is a newborn baby, it is green and tarry because it's not real poop yet. It is called meconium and is the stuff that lined the intestines before birth. If this is not a newborn baby, I would call the pediatrician to ask about it. They are very used to calls from new parents so don't worry about that.
