Actually not. It kind of implies that you have somebody on the side. Just ask him the same question back and see what is his answer. If you are tired of guessing what he means, be direct and say, "Do you want to marry me and when? Stop playing all of these mind games. It's time to settle down and quit playing around." He needs to be serious and honest about that kind of question. I don't think it implies anything other than the fact that he probably wants to marry you and he doesn't really know how else to find out whether you want the same thing. He probably doesn't want to officially propose until he has an idea of what you want. Now I think that if you wanted to marry this boyfriend, you wouldn't be asking this question as you wouldn't mind if he's implying anything by his question. So my question to you is, if you don't want to marry him, what are you doing with him? It's obvious to me that what he wants is a normal life with someone he loves. If that's not what you want, tell him and let him move on to find someone who will love him in that way.
