How do I install a new fuel pump on an 1986 mark VII?

try to do tis with fuel tank as close to empty as possible. jack up rear of vehicle and support it with ramps or jackstands, disconnect battery. use a suitable support to hold gas tank, i used a floor jack and a peice of plywood. loosen the tank straps and postition the support. remove the straps and lower the tank about 6 inches. reach up on the topof the tank and disconnect the fuel sending unit wiring harness and the fuel lines. drop the tank and working from the top remove the retaning ring that holds the sending unit in place. remove the unit from the tank. the fuel pump is is on this unit. place unit on table and remove the sock at the bottom and disconnect short fuel hose from pump. to reassemble, reverse the procedure. did i mention it would probably be a good idea not to smoke during this operation?
