No, he did not. He was in local bands from early high school until forming Aerosmith with Joe Perry and Tom Hamilton in Sunapee, New Hampshire in 1970, after Chain Reaction split up. He has no formal education outside of high school, but he does have an honorary doctorate from the Berklee College of Music. It was presented to him in 2003.
