Why is there a large ballast weight mounted to your 1982 Honda CB900 custom where the head light would be if it didn't have a fairing?

The weight takes the place of the headlight and assorted parts that are removed when a fairing is installed. It prevents a severe front end shake/wobble that occurs at relatively slow speeds that can be disastrous. I found this out by taking my hands off the bars as I have done many times on other bikes. After finding out about the weight's purpose I checked it out and mine was missing. I have since found one and will install it. It goes to the front of the wire harness box. This front end weight is needed for stability of the forks.
