Who beheaded Medusa in greek mythology?

The Greek hero Perseus was the one who beheaded Medusa. He went to her island while she was asleep and moved her snakes of hair out of the way and then chopped her head off. Medusa was dead but he snakes weren't so he had to be careful when putting them in the bag.
