What type of fish live in the grassland ponds?

As long as it's not so shallow that it would completely freeze over to the bottom, I would recommend getting a type of Goldfish called Comets. They are colorful, so you can see them from above and will always forage for food, keeping mosquito larvae in check. They are sometime considered as feeder fish so they are usually inexpensive.
