A squire was a young man in training to become a knight, typically serving a knight as an assistant. He was responsible for the care of the knight's horses, armor, and weapons, as well as learning the skills of warfare and chivalry. Squires often accompanied their knights into battle and participated in tournaments to gain experience and demonstrate their abilities. Additionally, they were expected to uphold the values of knighthood, including loyalty and honor.
