Dicotyledons, commonly referred to as dicots, are a group of flowering plants characterized by having two cotyledons, or seed leaves, in their seeds. They typically exhibit features such as broad leaves with a network of veins, floral parts in multiples of four or five, and the presence of a taproot system. Common examples of dicots include roses, sunflowers, and oak trees. This group is one of the two main classes of angiOSperms, the other being monocotyledons (monocots).
