Where do waterdogs live?

Waterdogs, commonly known as mudpuppies, primarily inhabit freshwater environments such as lakes, rivers, and ponds in North America. They prefer areas with ample cover, such as rocky or submerged structures, where they can hide from predators. These amphibians thrive in areas with clean, oxygen-rich water, as they are sensitive to pollution. Their distribution ranges from the Great Lakes region down to the southern United States, particularly in the Mississippi River basin.
