How much does an advertising photographer make?

This is a question with a lot of variables, and most advertising photographers shoot things other than ad images.

I know an advertising photographer in North Carolina who makes around $35,000/year. He does a lot of industrial advertising...his photos of pharmaceuticals are great, if you're into photos of antidepressant pills and vaccine vials.

The four or five guys who do high fashion pull down several thousand dollars a day...but there are significant dues to pay there because they started out shooting Sears Catalog work during the week and weddings so they could afford to eat.
