It depends on 2 things, your skill level, and mostly who you are working for.

With the equipment you have to buy ($5000-$20000) cost for equipment, usually for one hour $200-$800(Again who hires you and your skill level)

I would say sports photog's make 40K-200k(A person who shoots professional level to one who shoots semi to non-professional) a year and also make money by shooting other things like weddings, portraits, etc.
