Dear Abby is the newspaper advice column written by "Abigail Van Buren" whose real name is Jeanne Phillips. She is the daughter of the original Abby, Pauline Friedman Phillips (1918-2013) whose twin sister, Esther Friedman Lederer (1918-2002) was the competing advice columnist "Ann Landers."
