What is the suspense in Goldilocks and the Three Bears?

This twisted version of the Three Little Pigs is told from the point of view of the wolf, who is merely trying to borrow sugar to bake a birthday cake for his grandmother. The suspense is the question of whether any of his neighbor pigs will loan him some, or if all three will die tragic accidental deaths before they can reconsider their refusal.
