To successfully root bougainvillea cuttings in water, follow these steps:
- Take a 6-8 inch cutting from a healthy bougainvillea plant.
- Remove the lower leaves from the cutting.
- Place the cutting in a container of water, making sure the nodes are submerged.
- Change the water every few days to prevent rot.
- Keep the cutting in a warm, bright location but out of direct sunlight.
- Roots should start to form in 2-6 weeks. Once roots are established, transplant the cutting into soil.
