383 stroker in a 1940 ford street rod why is it using oil it doest smoke and it runs very strong it uses a quart every thousand miles?

have you checked for oil leaks, if it isn't burning it, it's going somewhere. check the flywheel cover , see if it's leaking from the rear main, if so you should see a drip on the bottom of the cover.try putting newspaper under the engine when parked and check for wet spots.
