Who is citizen edmond Genet?

Citizen Edmond Genêt was a French diplomat who served as the ambassador to the United States during the French Revolution in 1793. He is best known for his attempts to recruit American support for France in its conflicts against Britain and Spain, which led to significant diplomatic tensions between the U.S. and France.
