I bought some local and national newspapers on my niece's birth day 12 years ago to give to her when she turns 18 and I put them in a flat thick polythene bag, folded the edge over and taped it shut to stop air getting in and then stored them flat in the loft where it is cool and dry.

They still look the same as they did the day they were bought so it seems to be working fine.

I've done the same for my three year old son and will do the same for my second baby which is due at the end of October. I think it's a nice idea but the most frightening thing is how fast the twelve years have gone.

Good luck and hope it works for you too.
