When light shines onto a prism, it is refracted, or bent, as it passes through the glass. This bending causes the different wavelengths of light, which correspond to different colors, to spread out and separate. As a result, a spectrum of colors—typically red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet—emerges from the other side of the prism, creating a beautiful display reminiscent of a rainbow. This phenomenon demonstrates the principles of optics and the nature of light.
