Wayne Gretzky's first team was the Indianapolis Racers in the World Hockey Association (WHA). He joined the team in 1978 when he was just 17 years old. However, his time with the Racers was short-lived, as he was traded to the Edmonton Oilers shortly after, where he truly began to make his mark in professional hockey.
