How do you take care of a lilac bush - do you plant it in shade or sun and what kind of soil and how often should you water it?

Plant it in alkaline soil that is quite rich in nutrients. A cool position in part sun and part shade is best making sure the roots remain protected from heat - use a mulch. Feed in spring.
