You can tell your molly is ready to breed when she has a swollen, rounded belly and her gravid spot (a dark area near the rear of her abdomen) becomes more pronounced. Additionally, a female molly may exhibit increased activity and seek out males more frequently. Males may also display courtship behaviors, such as chasing and nipping at the female. Breeding typically occurs when conditions in the tank, such as water quality and temperature, are optimal.
