Hermione's fluffy ginger cat, who is actually suggested to be part-Kneazle (a magical creature similar to a cat that is highly intelligent). Crookshanks demonstrates himself to be intelligent in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, by distrusting Ron's rat Scabbers (actually the traitor Peter Pettigrew disguised in his Animagus form) and working with Sirius Black (who is innocent of the crimes for which he was convicted).
Ron dislikes Crookshanks with a passion, frequently insulting him and accusing him of attacking his rat.
