Legacy BiOS, or Basic Input/Output System, has been around since the early 1980s. It was originally developed for IBM PCs and has served as the firmware interface for computer systems for decades. While it laid the groundwork for system initialization and hardware management, its limitations have led to the adoption of newer standards like UEFI (Unified Extensible Firmware Interface) since the early 2000s. Despite this, Legacy BiOS is still supported in many systems for compatibility reasons.
