Barred owls live in low, wet woods, and swampy forests. their range is from British Columbia east to Nova Scotia, and south to northern California, and to Texas and Florida. Nesting is 2-4 white eggs in an unlined cavity in a hallow tree, or rarely, an abandoned building; sometimes an old crows nest. this owl is 20 inches tall, and 3 feet 8 inches across. Large stocky, dark eyed owl, gray brown with crossbarring on neck and breast, and streaks on belly. no ear tufts, and brown eyes.
