What is a wood roach?

The common name wood roach refers to Cryptocercusroaches, wingless roaches native to Asia and North America. You can see some pictures here:

Eurycotis floridana, a large roach common in Floria also goes by the name of Wood or Woods Cockroach. They are large (up to 2 inches), black roaches. Here's a picture and some more information on them: http://edis.ifas.ufl.edu/mg225
