Does a dehumidifier work if I have a humidifier in the other room?

The dehumidifier would in a sense "win" this battle. Since the dehumidifier sucks water out the air and the humidifier adds water to it. The humidifier would run out of water before the dehumidifier sucks all the water out the air.
