How does the praying mantis hurt us and help us?

the praying mantis is helpful to humans because the eat bugs and insects that are harmful to plants.

however, do not pick them up in your hand. seems that inside a closed fist they tend to "freak out" and you will fill something like a small explosion and afterwards notice that your hand and fingers have been littered with almost 100 little spikes! NOT FUN! AND IT DID HURT!

some farmers have even recorded the same "explosion" type experience within grazing cattle. the cow would incidentally partake a mantis while grazing in a pasture and the mantis would "explode" in their little "freaking out" ball of fury and leave painful and potentially bacterial starting spikes in the cows mouth.
