What should you do to check for alternative spelling for a misspelled word?

Use spellcheck, or go to google and type the Word in. Try to see if there's a "reputable" source that uses it in a sentence and look at how they spell it. Or google up "alternative spelling of _____". That's how I do it, at any rate...
