I recently bought a Eurotex PU Leather couch. The sellers told me it was not made of cow hide. Looking through wiki it states about a split leather or a composite of leather. Have I been misled?

PU leather is an animal-based leather product that is made of thin sheets of split hide that is laminated on top of a substrate (sort of like a veneer on wood). Technically, what you were told is true, as PU leather is not the full hide, just a thin layer of leather. But it is animal-based.
