What U.S. President was rescued by a submarine?

President George Herbert Walker Bush (Dubya's Dad) was a Navy TBM Avenger pilot during WWII in the Pacific campaign. He was shot down during combat operations against the Japanese and rescued by USS Finback (SS-230). He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for his actions.
