The symptoms are the horse kicking, biting,or showing distress toward his stomach,not wanting to move,flinching when you toch his/her stomach,unusual whinnying or nickering or neighing in pain,trying to lay down, when laying down refusal to get up,not eating or drinking,constipation and not urinating. I am no vet but I nearly lost my beautiful Quarter Horse because of colic. Call the vet immedeately. Many horses can die because of colic so make sure you catch it early to avoid all of the above. To many Apples,sour/sweet things or anything a horse shouldn't be eating can cause colic because horses and ponies cannot vomit
