Toxicodendron vernix is the scientific name of 'poison sumac'. The plant contains the same urushiol oil that makes humans want to avoid contact with poison ivy [Toxicodendronradicans] and poison oak [Toxicodendrondiversilobum and Toxicodendron pubescens].
