Does truvia kill fire ants faster than sugar?

A sixth grade student in the Philly area needed a science experiment, so he and his Dad, a neuro scientist who had tons of fruit flies thought up an experiment. The went to the growcery store and got every sweetner they could think of, sugar, Splenda, etc... They then loaded up some containers with sweetened food and fruit flies. The one's with the Truvia died within 6 days, the rest lasted a normal lifespan of 2 weeks. They are now testing to see if Ants, Cockroaches, etc die off in a similar fashion. I'm betting they do.
