He sticks a sWord through him. Romeo is the immediate cause of Tybalt's death, and thus is required to bear the responsibility for that action. The question which comes up at his trial at the very end of Act III Scene 1 is whether, although Romeo is clearly responsible for Tybalt's death, he should be punished for it, since Tybalt had just finished committing an offence punishable by death.
